My organization has never filed a tax return before, how do I get started?

This can be done in a few easy steps, as follows:

• Verify that your organization has been granted exempt status by the IRS. 
  • You can easily check the IRS database of exempt organizations by checking their website, https://apps.irs.gov/app/eos/.  
  • You will need to have your organization’s EIN to do this. 
• If your organization has been granted tax-exempt status by the IRS, begin your return filing in Vault under Accounting > Accounting Tools > Tax Filing. See the other articles in this section to help you continue the process.
• If your organization does not appear in the list of exempt organizations, see the following:
  • My organization does not show up in the IRS database of exempt organizations.  What do I do?  
  • My organization shows up in the IRS Database as being on the “Auto-Revocation” list.  How can I fix this?
