Below are some common questions we receive regarding the merchant verification process.
Who is ProPay?
ProPay is the third-party payment processing company that OmegaFi works with to process all incoming payments.
Who is Togetherwork and why are they contacting colonies and chapters instead of OmegaFi?
Togetherwork is OmegaFi's parent company, and the Togetherwork merchant support team assists not only OmegaFi customers, but also customers working with Togetherwork's other lines of business as well.
What is a merchant account?
A merchant account is an account that is created and used by a payment processor to allow an organization to accept credit cards or other forms of electronic payment.
What is a Form SS-4?
A Form SS-4 is an Application for Employer Identification Number. The IRS returns the original application with an assigned EIN or sends an SS-4 letter indicating an assigned EIN. This letter cannot be replicated by the IRS, so we recommend that the national organization keep copies of all SS-4/SS-4 letters for their colonies and chapters on file.
I cannot find my SS-4/SS-4 letter, now what?
If you cannot locate a copy of your SS-4/SS-4 letter, you will need to contact the IRS to request a 147c Letter, also known as an EIN Verification Letter.
How can I request a 147c letter to verify my EIN?
Please contact the IRS's Business and Specialty Tax Line at (800) 829-4933, available from 7am - 7pm local time. You will go through a series of prompts. After selecting the language of your choice, you will press '1' for EIN information, and then '3' to speak with someone regarding an EIN confirmation letter.
